The effect of the penile body image on self-esteem and sexual satisfaction

In this research, two determinants of sexual satisfaction were investigated. Firstly, the influence of how satisfied men are about their penile appearance, also called the penile body image, and secondly whether this relationship is mediated through self-esteem. A hundred men with a minimum age of 18 completed our online questionnaires on penile body image, sexual satisfaction and self-esteem. Having a negative penile body image correlated negatively with sexual satisfaction. Mediation analyses showed that having low self-esteem does not mediate this relationship. Our analyses did show that having a negative penile body image correlates negatively with global self-esteem.
